Getting To The Barbican Centre

Air Travel

The Barbican Centre is just a 30-minute drive (subject to traffic) from the London City Airport which offers international flights to and from major cities across Europe.

Other nearby airports include:

  • Gatwick Airport (1 hr 15 minutes - 1 hr using the train and underground)
  • Heathrow Airport (1 hr 15 minutes using the train and underground)
  • Luton Airport (1 hr 15 minutes using airport shuttle, train, and underground)

Train Travel

The Barbican Centre is just an 11-minute walk from Liverpool Street and Farringdon train stations. Old Street and Moorgate train stations are served by Great Northern and Thameslink and are also within walking distance of the venue.

Travel by Car

Driving within London is rarely necessary thanks to the excellent public transport services including the London Underground. Especially given the likelihood of encountering heavy traffic, particularly during peak times.

If, however, you do decide to drive, beware of road restrictions near the venue. As of March 2020, there is no through route on Beech Street except for zero-emission vehicles, and nearby Bridgewater Street and Golden Lane are restricted to only non-motorized vehicles. However, access to nearby car parks 4 and 5 is still permitted to all vehicles.

Local Travel

The Barbican is within walking distance of a number of London Underground stations. Barbican (4-minute walk) and Moorgate (7-minute walk) offer connections to the Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, and Circle lines, while St Paul’s (11-minute walk) offers services on the Central line).

Buses to and from the venue are also available from bus stops on Beech Street and Goswell Road near the Barbican underground station, both within walking distance of the venue.

Parking is available at the Barbican Centre and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with CCTV and security at all times. Parking can be accessed via Silk Street and Beech Street and can be booked in advance.
